Why send a Thanksgiving card at all?

Every vendor your client works with sends a card in December. Yours lands in a stack of forty, on a desk belonging to someone who is already behind.

A Thanksgiving card arrives in early November, by itself, onto a wall that still has room. It gets read. The person remembers who sent it.

What should a business Thanksgiving card say?

Thanks for the relationship. That is the most professionally appropriate sentiment on the whole calendar — not religious, not commercial, nothing anyone has to interpret. It is the one thing every client and every employee can be told without a caveat.

For staff it does a second job. Thanksgiving lands right before the December scramble, which is precisely when a morale note is worth something.

When do Thanksgiving cards need to go out?

Thanksgiving mail wants to be in hand by the middle of November, so the order wants to be placed in September or October. That is also when the early-order discount is at its largest — the two deadlines happen to reward the same behavior.

Not sure where to start?

Tell us who you're sending to and roughly how many. We've been doing this since 2003 — we'll point you at the three or four designs that actually fit, and you can take it from there.
